EU rules (Directive 86/278) aim to ensure that the use of sewage sludge in farming does not harm the environment, animals and humans.

EFAR members gathered more than 60,000 soil analyses to assess impact of evolving soil trace element thresholds.

With Climat Mundi, EFAR created a calculator to assess GHG emissions for different Biosolids disposal routes.

With INERIS, members assessed impact of sludge landspreading on human health (heavy metals and organic compounds).
